Joseph Charles Bighetty was born Wednesday, May 23, 1945 in Pukatawagan, Manitoba to Jean-Baptiste and Cecile Bighetty.
Joe attended Guy Hill Residential School in The Pas. He returned to Pukatawagan to trap with his late father Jean-Baptiste and uncle Gabriel Bighetty.
Joe was an avid hunter, trapper and fisherman. Along with these assets, he knew many medicinal plants and herbs, which were passed on to him by his parents and grandparents. He preferred to do things alone and spend time at the camp at Duck Lake.
With his oratory skills, he passed on his skills to his brothers, his children and numerous friends, as tradition dictates. His other pinnacles; he worked for the CNR, did carpentry and his main trade was a trained bricklayer. He worked in The Pas, Thompson and Winnipeg.
Joseph passed away peacefully with family and friends by his side, Tuesday, March 8, 2016, at St. Anthony’s Hospital, The Pas, Manitoba, at the age of 70 years.
Joseph is survived by his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren and family too numerous to mention.
