Sharon Babey Obituary

Sharon was born in Morden, Manitoba, Sunday, July 16, 1950. Sharon was raised in the Windy Gates area, attending school at Chicken Hill and Point Douglas. In 1964 Sharon’s family moved to Darlingford, Manitoba where she attended Nellie McClung Collegiate in Manitou, Manitoba. Sharon worked for MTS for 31 plus years. She started with MTS in Gladstone, Manitoba moving from there to Morden, Dauphin and then Winnipeg. It was while she was travelling with MTS to The Pas that she met Allan and moved to The Pas. The couple were married in 1977 and raised one son, Tyson. Sharon was the greatest mom. Sharon loved to knit and helped many of her co-workers at MTS with their knitting projects. She also did cross-stitch. Sharon loved to read and research history and was very interested in her family tree. Sharon enjoyed working in her flower beds and garden. She loved animals and gave food and water to stray cats, much to the neighbors’ delight. Sharon worked for MTS until it closed it’s business office in The Pas. Sharon graduated in 2005 with Honors with Distinction, the same year as her son, Tyson. She went to work for the Royal Bank and worked until she was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. Sharon fought a courageous battle for 14 months before she passed away, Wednesday, January 27, 2010 at St. Anthony’s Hospital, The Pas, with her husband of 32 plus years by her side. Sharon will be lovingly remembered by her hushand, Allan; son Tyson; four-legged son, Snoopy; brothers Ronald (Diane) Schindel, Fort Francis, Ontario, Robert (Laura) Buelow, Windy Gates, Manitoba; sisters Caroline Brown, Benito, Manitoba, Linda Hawes, Sechelt, B.C.; brothers-in-law Larry Babey, Regina, SK, James Babey, Winnipeg, MB; nieces, nephews, cousins; special friend Jean McPhail; and godparents Ron and Joyce Stangeland. Sharon was predeceased by her father Robert Buelow; mother Hertha (nee Schwartz) Buelow; father-in-law Peter Babey; mother-in-law Katie Babey; brothers-in-law Ed Hawes and Clarence Campbell. A service of remembrance to celebrate Sharon’s life was held Monday, February 1, 2010, 2:00 pm at the Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Cathedral, The Pas, Manitoba with James Hemauer presiding. Music ministry was provided by Rochelle Rydberg. Memories of the heart were shared by Ron Schindel and Jean McPhail. Scripture readings were proclaimed by Glenda Streifel.
