Donald Butler

BUTLER, Donald Jeffrey - age 84 of Yarmouth passed away in Yarmouth Regional Hospital on December 12, 2019. Born in Birmingham, England on June 29, 1935. He was a son to the late Walter and Alice (Hall) Butler. Donald was a mechanic who started his trade with the Land Rover Company in England. He travelled throughout Europe and the Middle East while working for the company. He then moved to New York where he met his former wife Annette and had their first child Nicole before moving the family back to England. In England they had their second child Jacqueline before moving to Wedgeport, Nova Scotia. He worked at MotorMart for over 25 years. He also worked at Midnight Auto, Hyundai, and drove the Manor Inn Bus. Donald was obsessed with soccer and would always cheer for the underdogs, although his favorite team was Liverpool. He also coached the Yarmouth Clippers soccer team in the early 1980's. He is survived by his daughters, Nicole Matthews (Elliot Eastham), Chilliwack B.C.; Jacqueline Butler (Ed LeFave), Lr. Wedgeport; grandchildren, David Heroux and Davin Theriault; and great grandson, Liam Heroux. Besides his parents, Donald was predeceased by his former wife Annette; sisters, Frances, Margaret, Hilda, Lillian; and his brother, Leonard. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Sweeny’s Funeral Home and Crematorium, Yarmouth. A celebration of his life will be held Friday December 20,2019 at 2 P.M. from Sweeny’s Funeral Home Chapel with rev. A.D. “Bill” Newell officiating. Interment will take place at a later date as per Donald’s wishes. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Nova Scotia Heart and Stroke.
