Obituary
Ruth (Nice Coblentz was born April 22, 1925 in Brookings, Oregon to Reno and Edna Nice and passed away peacefully in her sleep at the Marjorie Memory Care House in McMinnville on Sunday, July 21, 2019. She spent a lot of her childhood moving back and forth between LaJunta Colorado and Sheridan Oregon. Ruth attended school in Sheridan Oregon through the 11th grade. Ruth attended the Sheridan Mennonite Church where she met Robert and then the family later attended the Church in the Wildwood at Grand Ronde. She was always an active member of the women’s sewing circle at the church. Ruth was preceded in death by six of her seven siblings Mabel (Karl) Enns, Harry (Magdalene) Nice, Howard (Louella) Nice, Ida Rose (Clayton) Wolfer, Dorothy (Lynn) Wolfer, and Gwen (Ted) Killian. Robert Nice, her youngest brother, is still living. Ruth was married to Robert Coblentz on June 30, 1945 and spent 65 years together until his death on June 13, 2010. Robert was a log truck driver which meant several moves for mom and a houseful of kids, but we never heard her complain. Together, they enjoyed camping and traveling in their motor home. Ruth always had a garden, canning a lot of our own food, spent time making lots of quilts, (which many of us received as gifts) as well as selling them to many of the people that saw her handiwork. She enjoyed embroidery of all kinds and helping Dad by painting the many wooden lawn decorations he created. They also spent a lot of time watching Major League Baseball on TV. They enjoyed the music of the Gaither Brothers and would watch their performances on TV when they could. Ruth was preceded in death by one grandson in 1980, Cory Coblentz. She is survived by all six of her children, Fred (Pam) Coblentz of Willamina, Dan (Kathy) Coblentz of Willamina, Pat (Wendell) Lux of Sheridan, Tom Coblentz of Willamina, Gaylord (Kathy) Coblentz of Dallas, and Deb (Rick) Colton of Willamina along with 10 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren. She was laid to rest next to Dad in a graveside service on Friday, July 26, 2019 in the Sheridan Mennonite Cemetery. The Dallas Mortuary Tribute Center is caring for the family. www.dallastribute.com
