Douglas MacArthur Hanson, 77, of Nashua, died peacefully following a lengthy illness at Brigham and Women’s Hospital on February 12, 2019 with his family at his side. He was born in Clinton, MA on July 1, 1942, a son of the late Joseph and Noel (Highfill) Hanson. Mr. Hanson was the husband of Lorraine (Haigh) Hanson. He had started his own company, Bioassay Systems, and had been President and or Vice President of several corporations. Mr. Hanson had also been a technical writer from 2009 to present. He was a longtime member of the Writer’s Club in Nashua, and had a book published. He had been a lifelong geologist and avid rock and mineral collector his whole life. His love of geology started with frequent trips with his parents, continuing with classes at Keene State College. He was also a member of the Keene Rock and Mineral Club. At one time, he was active in the Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts at Immaculate Conception Parish. He was a voracious reader who was always traveling to Barnes And Noble. He enjoyed gardening with his wife, and keeping his lawn looking good. He loved to spend time with family and friends, taking trips and keeping busy. Besides his beloved and devoted wife, Lorraine, he is survived by his sons, Michael Hanson, Jeff Hanson and his wife, Kimberly and Brian Hanson; his adopted daughter Laura Stone; his grandchildren, Brenden Hanson, Austen Hanson, Nicholas Hanson; two great grandchildren, Kelsi Robarge and Willow Hanson; his nieces and nephews, Denise Hanson, Gail Connolly, Debbie Weeks, Herbie Gorham, Kevin Salmon, Brenda Hanson and Joe Hanson. SERVICES: A Celebration of His Life will be held at the Davis Funeral Home, One Lock St., Nashua on Sunday, February 24, 2019 at 12:00 PM. Friends and family are invited to attend. Interment prayers and burial will be held at Edgewood Cemetery on Monday, February 25, 2019 at 10:00 AM.
