Lieschen “Lisa” Winnige, 94, formerly of Millburg and St. Joseph, went to meet her Lord & Savior Jesus Christ, Saturday, January 3, 2015, at Golden Age Manor in Stevensville, where she had resided for the last four years. Celebration of Life Services will be held 11:30 A.M. Thursday at Starks & Menchinger Chapel, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph, with Rev. Robert Confer officiating.  Burial will follow at Millburg Cemetery.  Friends may visit beginning at 10:30 A.M. Thursday at the funeral home.  Memorial donations may be made to the First Church of God Endowment Fund.  Those wishing to sign Lisa’s Memory Book online may do so at www.starks-menchinger.com. Lisa was born March 6, 1920 in Germany to Eduard & Auguste Behrendt.  She immigrated to the United States in 1954 and settled in Chicago where she met Josef Winnige.  They were married in July of 1967.  Lisa worked hard all her life at whatever job or task she undertook.  In 1973 they moved to Millburg where they resided until Joe’s passing on April 20, 1993.  Shortly after, Lisa moved to St. Joseph where she lived until 2011.  She was a member of First Church of God where she was active in the WCG and the Senior’s Sunday School Class.  Lisa enjoyed knitting & crocheting, polka dancing, playing her harmonica, riding her bicycle, and tending to her yard & beautiful roses.  She was an excellent cook & baker and enjoyed entertaining friends and family and sharing her  culinary talents at the dinner table. Lisa is survived by her daughter Kathe Hofer of Germany; two grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; three sisters-Ella (Heini) Steinbeisser & Elfriede Jessel of Germany, Edith Loveless of Chicago; her brother Kurt (Rita) Behrendt of Germany; her niece Renee Rowen of Skokie, IL; and numerous nieces & nephews in Germany. In addition to her husband Josef, Lisa was preceded in death by seven brothers, one sister, and a grandson, all in Germany.
