Stanley, Mildred “Milly” Irene (née Stewart), of Kincardine, passed away in her 79th year at Tiverton Park Manor on Tuesday Nov 1, 2011 following a valiant struggle against cancer. Milly passed with her family by her side. Milly was born on Nov 5, 1932 in Glenavon, Saskatchewan. In 1938 she and her family moved to Ontario. Milly was the 3rd youngest child of Tom and Fern (Larrett) Stewart, dear sister of 6 brothers and 4 sisters. John and Rosemary Stewart, Gerald and Una Stewart, Alec and Laurena Stewart, Russell and Gloria Stewart, Harold and Lyla Stewart, Ila and Arnold Wilkie, Eva and Ian McPherson, Mabel and Ron Hudson, Ellen and Ken Rowe (Ralph Goessell) and Ernest (Bud) Stewart. Milly’s in-laws were Bill and Hazel Stanley of Kinloss. Her sisters and brothers-in-law were Betty and Bill Elliott, Carl and Mildred Stanley and Mary and Mike Procyshen. Milly married the love of her life Wm Ronald Stanley on March 22, 1952. The couple was the first to be married in the 77-year history of the Kinloss United Church. They enjoyed 59 wonderful years of marriage together. Ron and Milly raised 6 children. George Stanley, Shirley (Doug) Garniss, Bill (Val) Stanley, Bob Stanley (Adele Patrice), Mary (Rick) Beitz and Debbie (Byron) Ballagh. Grandma Millie will be greatly missed by her 12 grandchildren, Ann Garniss, Adam Garniss, Jamie Brown, Matt Stanley, Rachel Pagé, Hailey Patrice, Tony Beitz, Ricky Beitz and Kihya, Beitz, Heather vanderHoek, Mark Ballagh, and Blake Scott. Also sadly missed by 9 great grandchildren, Ainsley and Evelyn Garniss, Mckenna and Koledyn Brown, Blake, Ainsley, Kaidence and Avah Beitz and Cayden vanderHoek. Milly was an enthusiastic member of the Kinloss United Church, Kinloss United Church Women, Kincardine United Church, Kincardine United Church Choir, Kincardine Community Singers, Celebration Singers, and the Rebekah Lodge. Milly’s greatest passions in life were her family and her faith. She also enjoyed daily “mean” games of cards with Ron. Milly loved to spend time outdoors gardening, feeding the birds and squirrels, and crocheting. Milly rarely missed the Saturday night Scottish Pipe band Parade or the Ripley Fall Fair. Her favorite times were spent in large gatherings of family and friends. Milly will be sadly missed by a great many people. Visitation will be held at the Davey-Linklater Funeral Home, Kincardine, on Thursday, November 3, from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. The funeral service will be held at Kincardine United Church on Friday, November 4, at 11:00 a.m., with Rev. Don Harry officiating. Interment, Kincardine Cemetery. Memorial donations to Southwest C.C.A.C (Grey-Bruce), Canadian Cancer Society or Kincardine United Church would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy.
