Obituary of Frank Simpson Nicholson NICHOLSON, Frank Simpson – Passed peacefully at Peterborough Regional Health Centre, with his family at his side, on Friday August 4, 2017. Frank of Peterborough, formerly of Scotland, in his 88th year. Beloved husband of Joan (nee Hann) for 48 years. Loving father of Laura Hobbs (Jeff) of Ithaca, NY and Shona Nicholson of Barrie. Step-father of Tracey Britt (Scott) of Markham. Dear Poppa of Poppy, Audrey, Kalia and Kai. Step-grandfather of Zach, Leah and Alex. Frank will be remembered by his best friend Aldo Mazzei and many other relatives and friends. Frank was a fantastic carpenter who could read blueprints and build a building from the ground up. He managed the construction of the Sports Complex at Trent University, many Brunswick Bowling Alleys in Ontario and many other large buildings. Frank enjoyed hunting with his brother-in-law Art, and fishing with his girls as often as he could, waking them up at the crack of dawn to get out on the water. Frank loved to tinker in his workshop, where he owned every tool known to man, with careful dovetail work and craftsmanship, he made bath houses, bird houses, furniture and anything he could dream up, out of what most would consider scraps. Frank built a cottage on West Lake and spent many years there with friends and family. A celebration of Frank’s life will be held at the Ashburnham Funeral Home, 840 Armour Road, on Saturday, September 2nd, from 1-4 pm with words of remembrance at 2 pm.
