Anneli Whyte

Born the 17th of July, 1923 in the Hague, the Netherlands. Graduate from the Academy of Fine Arts in the Hague. Survived 5 years of WWII in Holland, doing resistance underground work at every opportunity. Member of St. James Anglican Church and A.C.W. Many years active member of the Stratford Figure Skating Club coaching children. Employed by the Festival Theatre wardrobe department for 18 years. Active member for many years at the Golf & Country Club. Member of Friends of Rotary. Many years active member of the Lakeside Sr. Dance & Tap Group, entertaining in various Sr. citizen’s homes. Member for many years of the Stratford Art Gallery, exhibiting several times, as well as in Art In The Park, Stratford. Active member for 22 years of the Taoist Tai-Chi Society. Predeceased by her beloved husband of 61 years Lt. Col. John S (Jack) Whyte, whom she met in Holland in 1945.Also predeceased by one sister-in-law Margaret and one brother-in-law Robert. Survived by two sons John Maurice (Ingrid) and Robert Roy, two grandchildren Alex (Kira) and Brianne (Sam), two sisters-in-law Ann Grotrian and Robina Logan and many nieces and nephews. A celebration of Anneli’s life will be held at St. James Anglican Church at 41 Mornington St, Stratford on Tuesday, October 15, 2019 at 11 a.m. with a visitation one hour prior to the service. Donations in lieu of flowers may be made to the Stratford General Hospital Foundation at www.sghfoundation.org, Stratford Perth Hospice Foundation at www.stratfordperthhospice.ca or St. John’s Ambulance at www.sja.ca.
