Howard Patience

PATIENCE, Howard Newton – Passed away peacefully at Woodstock Hospital on Monday, February 27th, 2017 in his 94th year. Howard was the beloved husband of Helen Kathleen “Kay” (Calder). Loving father of Brenda Taruvinga (Ranga), Susan Hearst, Sheila Sharer (Kevin), Claire Coward (Clayton), and Marvin Patience (Joanne). Cherished grandfather of Ryan (Lara), Ashley (Harrie), Kanyadzo (Avon), Leisa (Brett), Jordan (Rachel), Maita (Reagan), Dianne (Jason), Hama (Giselle), Kale (Bridget), and Nyemu. Great grandfather of 14 +4 in 2017. Also survived by his sisters-in-law Una Amos Brown, Julia Woods, Donna McCall, and Marion Hayhurst. Predeceased by his brothers Colin and Clayton as well as his sister Doris Lewis. Howard was born on August 28, 1923 on the 11th Concession in Zorra Twp. Prior to his marriage to his life-long love, he bought and renovated the farm they lived in until December 2016 when they moved to Oxford Gardens in Woodstock. Howard was a 50 year member of the Thamesford Lions Club, he farmed and worked as a full time salesman for Big 4 Chicks Hatchery until his retirement at age 72. Howard will be fondly remembered for his friendly and outgoing free spirit. Friends are invited to join the family for a visitation at the Brock & Visser Funeral Home Thamesford Chapel, 177 Dundas St., Thamesford, on Friday, March 3rd, 2017 from 2-4 & 6-8pm and again an hour prior to the service which will be held on Saturday at 1:00pm at the Westminster United Church with Rev. Mark Marshall officiating. Reception to follow in the church hall. Private interment in the Dorchester Union Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Westminster United Church Fund and may be arranged through the funeral home. Personal condolences may be sent at www.brockandvisser.com
