SJOSTEDT Mr. Arnold (Arnie) Bert Sjostedt, age 79 years, passed away peacefully in Hogarth Riverview Manor on Saturday, January 14, 2017, with his family by his side. Arnie was born in Port Arthur on January 20, 1937 to Lambert and Vivian Sjostedt and was a lifetime resident of Thunder Bay. In his youth, Arnie achieved the highest honour in Scouts, the Queen's Scout Award. There is a photo of this achievement on display in the Thunder Bay Museum. Arnie was employed with Canadian National Railway for 40 years, until retirement in 1993. He had a passion for Harley Davidson Motorcycles. Arnie will be deeply missed by all of his family and friends. Arnie is survived by his daughters Debbie (Don) Stewart, Val Kabernick (Dave Bazaluk), Bridget (Mike) Stachejczuk and special step-daughter Debbie (Bryan) Sutcliffe; his sister Svea (Roy) Kadolph; 7 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild as well as the mother of his 3 daughters, Marlene Burke and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Marie; his parents Lambert and Vivian; son-in-law David Kabernick and step-son Randy Allan Logan. A special thank you to the staff of Hogarth Riverview Manor for all of the tender loving care given to Arnie during his stay. Thank you as well to Glacier Ridge for all you did for Dad. He was truly happy during his time there. Cremation has taken place and as per Arnie's wishes, there will be no funeral service. A private family celebration of his life will be held at a later date. Should friends so desire, donations made in memory of Arnie to the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be greatly appreciated.
