Obituary for Peter Adolph Vaadeland

Peter Vaadeland

It is with sorrow that the family of Peter Vaadeland announce his death on June 6, 2010 at the Victoria Hospital. Peter died after a severe bout with pneumonia which he bravely fought with his usual courage. He will be sorely missed. Pete was born in Klepp, Norway on May 8, 1922. He celebrated his 88th birthday last month. Pete immigrated to Canada in 1927 at the age of 5 years. The family of Mom (Karen) Pete, Arne and Freda joined Dad (Severin) who had preceded them to Canada. They homesteaded in the Park Valley district. Peter and his siblings were involved with their parents on the farm. He eventually had his own farm and also worked at lumbering up north for La Pas Lumber, during the winter months. He joined the work force at Prince Albert National Park in 1952 as a truck driver and retired in 1984 as the maintenance supervisor. He enjoyed his years there. He retained a great interest in the farm all his years and often required updates on the farm, the horses and cows and projects ongoing. He is survived by his loving wife Ann of 45 years; his step-son Neal (Lorie) Isfeld; his step-daughter Marvilyn Armstrong; his daughter Beth Vaadeland Weigle (Alaric); his brother Ruben (Darlene); his sisters-in-law Margaret Vaadeland, Marie Baker, Helen Baker, Darlene Vaadeland and Jean Hanson; brothers-in-law Joseph Amundson, Leonard Young, Phil Baker and Murray Ball; his granddaughters Jessie, Kira, Ashlee (Jesse), Jaimee (Tyler) and Karlee and great grandson Brighton Isfeld Boyko. He is also survived by many wonderful nieces, nephews and friends; all of whom he enjoyed visiting with and enjoyed hearing of their lives. He had a myriad of stories he loved to share with everyone, visiting was his great joy and we feel sure that he is enjoying renewing his visits with those who have preceded him. He was predeceased by his mother and father, Karen and Severin Vaadeland; brother Arne; sisters Freda, Clara and Kate; brothers-in-law Eric Olson, Don Baker and Paul Hanson; sister-in-law Beverly Baker Ball; niece Myrna Crashly and nephew Stanley Olson; as well as his parents-in-law Rhonda and Percy Baker and dear friend Dean Allan.
