Judith Hodge Kitchener, Ontario Obituary

Judith Hodge

HODGE, Judith Mystery Crime Series TV shows have lost a loyal fan this week after a battle with multiple illnesses. Judith Anne Hodge (nee Lantz) was born May 5, 1947 in Stratford, Ontario, passed on January 19, 2019 at her home surrounded by loved ones. Predeceased by her parents Evan & Helen Lantz, and her younger brother Gerry. Loving mother to Natalie and her son-in-law Kevin, grandma of Shauna & Greg, great-grandma to Jordan & Sadie with a special mention to their mom Kasey. Judy was always happy to have Shauna (AKA Frog Legs) nap in her apartment and tolerated being pestered for crossword puzzle answers. She lit up every time she saw Jordan & Sadie… but not if they brought over cheesies. Cherished sister of Marilyn, Kathy (Brian), and sister-in-law Terry. Judy will be remembered fondly by her niece, nephews & their families, best friends Jane & Bibs, and neighbours Scott & Claude. Judy was a force to be reckoned with, she was fiercely independent, strong-willed and could move mountains if desired. She was a good friend to many. Family was always of utmost importance to her. Judy loved to drive and learned how at a very young age on her grandparents (Ida & John Lantz) farm tractor, Northeast of Shakespeare. Judy loved to decorate and sew. She was a good cook, and was a challenging crib partner. She instilled a love and aptitude for crib in her daughter Natalie. Judy wore many hats throughout her career beginning at 15-years-old working at Olympic Knit in Stratford; she was a waitress in Downtown Kitchener at a restaurant that eventually was known as Athena’s. She worked for many years at Arrow Shirts. She became a taxi driver, purchasing her own taxi; finally she joined the food service team at Wilfrid Laurier University and eventually retired from there. Special thanks to Judy’s medical team, Dr Naik, Dr Ho, Dr Prasad as well as ParaMed’s Palliative Team including nurse Charlie and Dr. Yoo. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. As expressions of sympathy, donations to Waterloo Region Lung Association, or to Judy’s memorial would be appreciated by the family. (cards available at the funeral home)
