David Earl Byers, 79 of Cookeville, Tennessee passed from this life Monday, November 23, 2020, at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville. He was born Saturday, July 26, 1941, in Gainesboro, Tennessee. He was the son of the late William and Laura (Haney), Byers. David was a loving Husband, Father, Grandfather, Great Grandfather, Brother, and friend to all who knew him. He loved country music, dancing, camping, spending time with family, butterscotch candy, and riding the roads. He is survived by his wife of 13 years, Glenna Byers of Cookeville, TN. 3 Daughters and 2 Sons-in-law: Karen and Michael Buckner of Knoxville, TN Patti and Ken Smith of Cookeville, TN Melissa Elrod of Cookeville, TN 3 Sons and 1 Daughter-in-law: Billy and Stacey Byers of Cookeville, TN Dwayne Jones of Sparta, TN Darrell Jones of Livington, TN 13 Grandchildren 6 Great Grandchildren 1 Sister and Brother-in-law: Wanda and Gary Epling of Nashville, TN 2 Brothers and 1 Sister-in-law: Louis Byers of Cookeville, TN Roy and Charlene Byers of Cookeville, TN A host of Nieces and Nephews In addition to his parents David was preceded in death by First Wife: Edith (Pippin) Byers, Daughter: Sharon Hickey, Mother-in-law: Rosie Pippin, 4 Sisters-in-law: IV Byers, Peggy Jackson, Betty Randolph, and Peggy Pippin, 1 Brother-in-law: Fred Pippin. Funeral services for David will be held Saturday, November 28, 2020, beginning at 2:00 pm from the chapel of Crest Lawn Funeral Home with Bro. David Flatt officiating. Interment will follow in Byers Cemetery in Gainesboro, Tennessee. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday, November 28, from 11:00 am until the time of service at 2:00 pm. Due to COVID-19, the funeral home asks that everyone please wear a mask and practice social distancing for everyone's health.
