William Dolan Jr.

Col. William G. Dolan, Jr. USAF Ret. 79, passed away on November 10, 2014 at his home with his wife, Nancy at his bedside. George was a graduate of the United States Naval Academy Class of '57 and was commissioned in the United States Air Force where he earned his wings and served as a Fighter Pilot, Air Commander, Air Attaché in Egypt, Aerospace Research Pilot, Flight Commander and Aircraft Commander (Interceptor Pilot). He retired after a decorated career in December of 1983. He was very proud of his 26 years of military service. He was also a founder and the first President of the USNA Alumni Chapter in Tucson. After his retirement from the USAF George worked for General Dynamics Convair in San Diego, CA and transitioned to Hughes Missile Systems and Raytheon Missile Systems in Tucson, AZ. George retired after 20 years as the Raytheon Engineering Product Line Director of Strike Systems. He was a member of the BrainTrust who mentored System Engineering Students at the University of Arizona. Second only to airplanes and clouds, George loved to play golf and was a member of the Tucson Country Club. George is survived by his wife of 56 years, Nancy Dolan; his children, Carolyn Buckley, Stephanie Turek, Leigh Schilling, and Bill Dolan; and ten grandchildren. He will be interred at Riverside National Cemetery in Riverside, CA. The family asks that donations be made in lieu of flowers to: UA Cancer Center Patient Assistance Fund, c/o William Dolan memorial, 3838 N. Campbell Ave., Tucson, Arizona 85719.
