Obituary for Ava Sue Carter

Ava Sue Carter, 80, of Russellville, went home to be with the Lord Tuesday, January 2, 2018, at Russellville Nursing Center in Russellville. She was born March 14, 1937, in Yell County, daughter of the late Dan W. and Arvie Reynolds Latham.
She was preceded in death by her parents; 3 sisters, Sharon Cook, Deborah Latham, and Eva McGuire; brother, Verl Latham; and a great-granddaughter, Rosie Sorrels.
She is survived by her loving husband of 66 years, Thurman Carter; 2 daughters, Lena and husband Jim Brock, and Pam and husband Pedy Whitlock; 2 sons, Daniel Carter and wife Deanna, and Matthew Carter and wife Stacey; 10 grandchildren, Melissa “Lovie” Brock Neeley and husband Andrew, Robert Brock and wife Charlotte, Shane Carter, Jessy Carter Richardson and husband Reggie, Amber Carter, Jacob Carter and wife Jordan, Cole Whitlock and wife Kaley, Jordan Davis, Stormy Cash, and Lainee Cash; 14 great-grandchildren; 3 brothers, Manford Latham, Dale Latham, Johnny Latham; 2 sisters, Iva Reece and Faye Rose; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services are 11:00 AM, Friday, January 5, at Lemley Chapel with Bro. Robert Brock officiating. Burial is in Mt. Zion Cemetery under the direction of Lemley Funeral Service of Atkins. Visitation is from 6:00-8:00 PM, Thursday, at Lemley Chapel.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in her honor may be made to Alzheimer’s Foundation, 322 North Greenwood, Fort Smith, Arkansas 72901.
