Earnie Elizabeth Darnell, Gate City, VA Earnie Elizabeth Darnell, 79, of Gate City, VA passed away on Sunday, June 23, 2019 at Wellmont Holston Valley Hospital. Earnie was born on March 20, 1940 in Scott county, VA to the late Garland and Tempa (Darnell) Rhoton. She is also preceded in death by a son, Billy Ray Darnell along with several siblings. She leaves behind to cherish her memory; her loving husband of 63 years, Jay C. Darnell, Gate City, VA; daughter, Margaret Harvey, Duffield, VA; sons, David and wife Sue Darnell, Duffield, VA, Tim and wife Tammy Darnell, Weber City, VA, Jeff Darnell, Gate City, VA; sister, Shirley and James Egan of Gate City, VA; brother, Terry and wife Brenda Rhoton, Ft. Blackmore, VA; grandchildren, Jessica Darnell, Chris Austin, Crystal Tomlinson, Jeffery Darnell, Jr., Justin Darnell, Kimberly Stapleton, Tony Chambers, Jim Chambers, Ashle Chambers, Jamie Simonton, Lindsey Simonton; several great-grandchildren; along with many nieces and nephews. It was Earnie’s wish to be cremated. There will be no formal service scheduled. Family and friends may visit any time at the residence.
