Samuel “Sam” Blankenship, age 39, a resident of Colorado Springs since 2003, passed away on July 3, 2011. Sam was born on October 4, 1971 at Welch, West Virginia. Sam was a dedicated father and husband who enjoyed enjoyed hiking, fishing, painting, quilting, and spending time with his family. He loved to laugh and drink. His smile lit up the room. He always looked at the lighter side of things.  Sam worked as a Security Supervisor at the Citadel Mall. He had attended Nazarene Bible College in Colorado Springs. Sam was very proud of his Irish heritage. He is survived by his wife, Jackie Carman Blankenship, 2 daughters, Autumn Rose Blankenship and Emerald Rain Blankenship, his father, Carson Blankenship, his mother, Sharon Miller Blankenship, 3 brothers, Steve Blankenship, Billy Blankenship and Chris Blankenship. Visitation will be from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Wednesday, July 6, 2011 at Evergreen Funeral Home 1830 E. Fountain Blvd. Colorado Springs, Colorado 80910. Funeral services will be at 3:00 PM on Thursday, July 7, 2011 at Strickland Chapel, Nazarene Bible College, 1111 Academy Park Loop, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80910.
