Barbara graduated from Pittsfield High School in Pittsfield Massachusetts in 1942. She loved classical music and Tanglewood. She was an accomplished pianist and was awarded a piano scholarship at the New England Conservatory. While at Chapel Hill Barbara was awarded Phi Beta Kappa. She worked as a translator of French and Italian at the NATO headquarters in Naples, Italy. Upon returning to the United States she made her home in Enfield, Connecticut. Barbara enjoyed a career as a social worker, touching many lives as Director of the Bureau of Youth Services for the town of Enfield.
