Russell E. Miller, Jr. of Egg Harbor City went home to be with the Lord on May 1st, 2022 at the age of 93. Russell formally resided in Atlantic City, Pleasantville and Mays Landing.


He is survived by his loving children Kathy (Miller) Warburton, Robert Miller and John A. Miller, Sr.; beloved grandchildren Elizabeth (Liz) Brenner, Justin Warburton and John A. Miller, Jr.; great-grandson Jacob Scott; along with many cousins and numerous friends.


Russell was predeceased by the love of his life, his wife Elizabeth (Betty) nee Gilbert. His brothers Gene, Bill, Stanley and sister Winnie.


Russ was born in Atlantic City, NJ and was a WWII veteran. He served with the USAF 602nd TACS, originally the Army Air Corps. Russ served from 1945 to 1948 and was stationed in Germany during the end of WWII. Russ participated in the Berlin airlift. After his discharge Russ had an eclectic work career at various Atlantic City area businesses including Atlantic Electric, Hackney's and Capt. Starns before he started his law enforcement career at the Pleasantville,NJ police department in the 1950's. He left Pleasantville as the city's 1st Detective Lt. and began a career at NAFEC where he became the Chief of police of the NAFEC police department. Russell moved into the FAA where he had a prestigious career and was one of the 1st law officers to be referred to as a Sky Marshall.


During his time with the FAA he worked with various law enforcement agencies including the Atlantic City Bomb Squad, NJ State Police, FBI and the U.S Secret Service. Russ retired from the FAA in 1989 and began working a more relaxing job at Blue Heron Pines in Egg Harbor City as a golf ranger and starter. Russell stopped working in 2009 and enjoyed his life with his wife and family.


Russ enjoyed a long and wonderful life. He made friends everywhere he went and if you weren't his friend, after meeting him you'd want to be. He received numerous awards and recognition from many of his colleagues and those that he worked with including the U.S Secret Service, FBI, NJ State Police and most recently members of Mainland PBA Local #77 where he was a past president and one of a handful of lifetime members.


A memorial service and celebration of his life which will be followed by internment will be held on Saturday, May 14th at 1pm in the Pavillion at Atlantic County Veterans Cemetery in Estell Manor, located inside the Atlantic County Park.
