Leona M. White, 101, of Enfield, passed peacefully into eternal life on Tuesday Sept. 9, 2008 at Johnson Memorial Hospital, Stafford Springs. She was born on July 28, 1907 in the Thompsonville section of Enfield the daughter of Thaddeus and Eugenie (Bourgin) White and was a lifelong resident of Enfield. She was a graduate of Enfield High School Class of 1924. Prior to retiring many years ago Leona was employed with Travelers Insurance Co. for 35 years.
She a was former member of the Traveler Women's Golf League and lifetime member of St. Patrick's Church, in her leisure time she enjoyed playing cards & bingo, traveling, dancing and variety show performances.
Leona is survived by her loving nephews and nieces; Jack O'Connor of Enfield, Donald O'Connor of Longmeadow, MA, and Ronald Pare of Pawcatuck, CT, Carole Menard, Gail Viola and Susan White all of Enfield and many close great nieces and nephews and their families. She was predeceased by two brothers, Wilfred White and Mady LeBlanc, two sisters, Alice O'Connor, Mary Pare. Funeral services in celebration of Leona's life will be held on Friday September 12, 2008 with the procession forming by 9:15 a.m. from Browne Memorial Funeral Chapels 43 Shaker Rd. Enfield to St. Patrick's Church, Enfield for a 10:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial interment will follow in St. Patrick's King St. Cemetery. Calling hours will take place on Thursday evening September 11, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Browne Memorial Funeral Chapels.
