Dorothy A. Ritchie, 90, wife of the late George Ritchie Sr., died on Tuesday, April 4, 2017 at Apple Rehab-Coccomo. Born in Meriden on January 20, 1927, she was the daughter of the late James and Lillian (Galayda) Reynolds. She was employed by Thompson Candy Company and Silver City Glass Company, both of Meriden. Dorothy was a parishioner of St. Joseph Church and a member of the Meriden Senior Center. She was a prolific athlete in her youth and enjoyed swimming, even into her golden years. She is survived by a daughter, Patricia Walker and her husband, Kenneth Jr. of Waterbury; a son, George Ritchie Jr and his wife Christine of Meriden; three grandchildren, Ryan Walker, Derrick Ritchie and Caitlin Green; two great-grandchildren, Braden and Dillon Walker and one sister, Janet Gardener and her husband, Maxwell of Wallingford. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Friends and relatives are invited to attend a graveside service to be held on Saturday, April 8, 2017 at 11:30 am at Sacred Heart Cemetery. There are no calling hours. Arrangements are under the direction of the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 East Main Street, Meriden, CT 06450.
