Christine Hunt

Christine Mary Hunt, born December 24, 1948, daughter of Russell and Justine Reising Hunt, died on Friday, November 28, 2008 at the age of 59. In 1966, she studied art at Quinnipiac University. For 25 years, she lived in Durango, CO, then for five years in Valdez, AK, where she was a ground dispatcher on oil tanker and cruise ships. Among other employs, she ran a business called “The Wild and Crazy Seed Co.” in Durango, CO. Chris moved to Valdez, AK in August of 1994 to accept the position of Director of the World Extreme Skiing Championships (WESC) 1995. Chris helped coordinate all aspects of the WESC event, including the television production on ESPN. While in Alaska, Chris enjoyed salmon fishing, boating, and cross-country skiing, four-wheeling and gardening. When she moved back to Milford in 1999, she became a floral landscaper at Racebrook Country Club and a Woodmont Volunteer Fireman at Station # 5. She loved all animals, especially her dog, Oscar. As hobbies, she created beautiful stained glass, and unique jewelry. Family and friends will miss her. Two siblings, Katherine Charlotte Smigay and Jeffrey K. Hunt, predecease her. Surviving family members are her parents, brothers, Russell W. Hunt, Jr., Timothy J. Hunt and Matthew P. Hunt; sisters, Susan H. Oravetz and April J. Hunt. A Memorial Services will be held at the Smith & Sefcik Funeral Home 135 Broad Street Milford at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 3, 2008. Interment will be private.
