Grace Bayers

Grace Elizabeth Bayers, age 94, of Milford, passed away on Wednesday, December 26, 2007 in Milford Health Care Center after a brief illness . She was born on February 10, 1913, in Waterbury to the late Frank and Emma Chatfield Morshead. A longtime Milford resident, she was employed by the Milford Department of Recreation as administrative assistant to the directors before retiring and was a member of the Eastern Star and Amaranth, serving as state soloist. Mrs. Bayers is survived by her devoted children Albert F. Bayers Jr. of New Milford, Frederick W. Bayers II of Wilmington, NC, Frank E. Bayers of Stamford, Suzanne B. Varga of Gulf Breeze, FL and Heather B. Demet of Milford, 12 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. Besides her parents, she is predeceased by her loving husband Albert F. Bayers Sr., son Geoffrey L. Bayers, granddaughter Ava E. Columbo, two brothers and a sister. A memorial service will be held in the First United Church of Christ, Congregational, 34 W. River St., Milford at 2pm. on Saturday, January 5, 2008. Smith & Sefcik Funeral Home, 135 Broad St., Milford is handling the arrangements.
