Anne N. Carmody Sweet, loving mother, grandmother and great grand mother Naugatuck, CT Anne N. Carmody, 87, the widow of Thomas Carmody, died peacefully on Sunday, June 5, 2016 at Waterbury Hospital with her loving family by her side. Anne was born on March 6, 1929 in Waterbury, CT a daughter of the late John and Madeline (Welton) Nixon and had been a Naugatuck resident for most of her life. Anne was a loving and proud wife, mother and grandmother and she was a faithful parishioner of St. Francis of Assisi Church. Anne is survived by her sons, Michael Carmody of Watertown and Paul Carmody and his wife Donna of Naugatuck; her daughters, Carlene Russo and her husband Steven of Naugatuck, Susan Mascola and her husband Christopher of Woodbury, Patricia Paquette of Naugatuck and Nancy Carmody of Naugatuck; her brothers, Howard Nixon and his wife Betsy of Woodbury and Attorney Kevin Nixon and his wife Frances of Southbury; her grandchildren, Sara, Taylor, Nicolas and Zachary; her 3 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and her husband, Anne was predeceased by her infant sons, David and Dennis Carmody. Anne was a kind and gentle soul who loved animals. In the 1950s, her father built two houses on Block Island and she enjoyed many wonderful summers there as well as vacationing in Ireland. The final ten years of her life were spent living with her daughter Patty where she loved having Sunday dinners with her family and sitting on her deck enjoying her flower garden. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, June 9, 2016 at 11:00am at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 318 Church Street, Naugatuck. Burial will follow in St. James Cemetery, Naugatuck. Family and friends may call on Thursday from 9:30 to 10:30am at the Buckmiller Thurston Mengacci Funeral Home, 82 Fairview Avenue, Naugatuck.
