Longtime Prospect Resident Prospect- Ruth Hansen, 93, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 26, 2013 at Waterbury Hospital. She was the wife of the late Theodore Hansen . Mrs. Hansen was born in Waterbury, daughter of the late William Ringenberg and Ethel C. (Wood ) Ringenberg. She graduated from Crosby High School and Post Junior College. Ruth was a member of Prospect Congregational Church for almost 60 years, serving in many capacities and belonged to several church organizations. She was also a Brownie and Girl Scout leader and Den Mother for several years. Ruth was a charter member of the Pioneer Squares and loved square dancing with her husband. She is survived by her daughter, Jean H. Watson and her husband, Jim, retired Wolcott Police Chief, and her son Donald R. Hansen, who lived with and took care of her in her last years. She will be missed by her grandchildren Carrie (Hansen) Spagnola and husband William, Brian Hansen and wife Donnell, Diane Watson, and James Watson, Jr. She also leaves six great grandchildren. She is predeceased by her brother William G. Ringenberg and her granddaughter Christine J. Watson. Friends and family are welcome at a memorial service lead by the Rev. Dr. Phyllis Norman, and will be held at the Prospect Congregational Church, 25 Center St, Prospect on Saturday, July 13, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours, and Buckmiller Brothers Funeral Home, 26 Waterbury Rd, Rte. 69, Prospect is in charge of the arrangements. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to: Prospect Congregational Church, 25 Center St, Prospect, CT 06712.
