John Jones

John Lewis Jones, 83, a native of Allentown, passed away Wednesday, August 27, 2014. He was born July 4,1931 to Joseph and Annie Jewel Jones. He graduated from Allentown School and attended Calvary Baptist Church. John Lewis farmed for most of his life and in the 1950's owned and operated the only lime business in Santa Rosa County. He is preceded in death by his parents and siblings Mellie (Charles) Meredith, Mabel (Carl) Pierce, Marilyn (Rufus) Stowers, and Ralph Jones. He is survived by his wife of fifty-five years, Maxine Phillips Jones of Berrydale; a son, Keith Jones of Allentown; a daughter, Robynn (Keith) Campbell of Chumuckla; three granddaughters, Courtney (Zach) Kendrick, Ashleigh (Adam) Bondurant, and Brittney Campbell; several nieces and nephews; and very good friend, Steve Jackson. The family will receive visitors at Lewis Funeral Home, Milton Chapel from 6:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. on Friday, August 29, 2014. Funeral services will be held at Calvary Baptist Church in Allentown at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 30, 2014, with Rev. LaDon Hall officiating. Pallbearers will be: Randolph Sutton, Jimmy White, Dexton Spears, Randall Ashworth, Danny Arnette, and Radford Locklin Jr. Honorary Pallbearers: Randy McLaughlin, Ed Kelly, James St. John, Johnny Johnston, Jack Walther, James King, and Crock Trawick. The family would like to thank Dr. Jeff Kelley of Jay Hospital and the staff of Covenant Hospice Care Center at West Florida Hospital for the love and care given.
