Sidney H. Gimlin, better know as “Lucky”, age 60, of Pace, passed away Friday, March 4, 2016, at home. He was born in Corpus Christi, Texas, on October 5, 1955, to Ross and Betty Gimlin and resided in Pace, Florida, for the past 60 years. Mr. Gimlin was retired from Air Products in Pace. He was preceded in death by his father, Ross Gimlin. Lucky is survived by his wife of 41 years, Elaine Gimlin; his son Lucas (Nichole); granddaughter Zoey; mother Betty Gimlin; brother Pete (Peggy) Gimlin, all of Pace, Florida; and many other family members and friends. He was loved by all and will be greatly missed by all those who knew him. Lucky was a faithful family man and loved spending time with his wife and family. He was a gentle and quiet man whose life was devoted to his best friend – his loving wife Elaine. He was extremely proud of his son and had a special place in his heart for his furbaby companions – his dogs. Lucky had varied interests and hobbies that included reading, photography, rocks, Marvin the Martian, Superman and all D.C. Comics, hobby rockets and anything quantum physics from UFOs to celestial stars and planets. He was a great storyteller and we always looked forward to see where the next story would take us. Eating popcorn was his great joy while reading or watching his favorite TV shows and movies, or listening to his favorite band, ZZTOP. He attended North Ridge Church in Pensacola, Florida. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the following organizations which were of great interest to Lucky. He was an adamant believer that mental health counseling be available to anyone regardless of financial ability to pay. NAMI Pensacola (National Alliance on Mental Illness) P.O. Lucas’s best friend Charlie Driver will give a eulogy of remembrances of Lucky. Pastor Stan Jones will officiate. Seating is limited, please bring a chair if you are unable to stand.
