Sally Burt, 99, of Dawsonville passed away Thursday August 28, 2014 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center following a period of declining health. Born January 2, 1915 in Blairsville, GA to the late John and Bethie Fortenberry, she lived most of her life in Dawson and Lumpkin Counties. For many years Sally worked as an in home caregiver where she touched the hearts and lives of many. She also loved gardening and flowers. Mrs. Burt was of the Pentecostal faith and was also preceded in death by her husband, Rob Burt; sons, Hayne Burt, Bobby Burt; daughter, Lillie Burt; and grandsons, Allen Burt and Danny Sheffield. Surviving are her daughters and son in law, Floy Sheffield, Winder, Ruby and Eugene Crane, Duluth; sons and daughters in law, Jim Burt, Dawsonville, Michael and Ellen Burt, Dawsonville; sister, Mildred Crane, Dawsonville; 17 grandchildren, several great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Tuesday September 2, 2014 at 2 o’clock at Bearden Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Ruel Martin and Rev. Harold Bottoms will officiate. Interment will follow in the Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday and Monday from 12 noon until 8 at the funeral home.
