Mrs. Carmelina "Lina" Piccolo age 83 years, a resident of Thunder Bay, passed away peacefully with family by her side, in Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre on Thursday, October 27, 2016. Carmelina was born and raised in Siderno Marina, Italy. She immigrated with her husband Gennaro to Canada in 1951. Lina was employed with numerous hotels as a pastry chef for many years until she became a big part of the family business (Club Cappucino) as she took great pride as the pastry chef, preparing pastries for her customers. Lina was passionate about her home, family and cooking, especially Sunday family dinner gatherings . During her retirement, she enjoyed wintering in Mexico with her family and friends. Lina was a longtime member of St. Dominic's Church. She will be lovingly remembered by her daughter Marie (Don) Morin; grandchildren, Don Morin Jr., Farrah (Mathew) Flegal and great grandchildren, Grace and Nathaniel Flegal; Gennaro, Lauren and Catherine Piccolo; daughter-in-law Terry Ann Piccolo. Also surviving are brothers, Cosmo (Nina), Frank (Maria), Carmelo (Orfina), Gino (Clara) and Gennaro (Sabrina) Belvedere; sisters, Teresa Belvedere and Anna (Mario) Barranca; sisters-in-law, Melina Belvedere, Albina Cessaratto, Leah (Ben) Grassia, Ada Futia and Olga Mancusa; brother-in-law, Anthony (Rosela) Piccolo; cousins Tilda Racco, Teresa (Egidio) Grassia, Cosmo (Marlene), Constantino (Marlene), Frank (Maria) and Tony (Ruth) Racco and numerous other relatives in Italy, Predeceased by her husband Gennaro "Rino"(2011); sons, Aldo (1977) and Salvatore "Sam" (1989), parents, Salvatore and Natalina Belvedere; sister-in-law, Natalina Grassia; brothers-in-law, Natino Belvedore, Ermino Ceseratto, Dominic Futia and Battista Mancusa and cousins, Joe (Rose) Racco. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November 2, 2016 , when family and friends will gather for Funeral Mass at 11:00am, at St. Dominic's Church celebrated by Rev. Maurizio Maifredi c.s.. Interment will follow in Mountain View Cemetery. Prayers will be offered Tuesday, November 1, 2016 at 8:00pm in St. Dominic's Church. If friends desire, in lieu of flowers memorials to TBRHS Foundation or St. Dominics Church would be appreciated. Carmelina Piccolo will be remembered in the Blake Funeral Chapel Memorial Grove. Annual dedication service Sunday, June 11, 2017.
