Richard Allen Mealman, 92, Olathe, Kansas passed away Saturday, October 26, 2019. Funeral service will be 11:00 am Monday, November 4, 2019 at Bruce Funeral Home, 712 S. Webster Spring Hill, Kansas with burial to follow at Pleasant Valley Cemetery, Overland Park, Kansas. Memorial contributions may be made to Wayside Waifs 3901 Martha, Truman Road Kansas City, Missouri Condolences may be left at www.brucefuneralhome.com Richard was born March 11, 1927 in Ottawa, Kansas to Delbert Bryan and Mabel (Simmons) Mealman. He graduated from high school and attended K-State. Richard joined the Merchant Marines at age 17 and traveled the South Pacific. He joined in the Navy for four years. Richard married Dorothy M. Posey in Phoenix, Arizona on October 15, 1951. He worked as an air traffic controller in Gardner and Olathe, Kansas. Richard also owned and operated Mealman Lawn Care Service for many years. Richard was a member of the Blue Valley Baptist Church. He enjoyed riding horses, photography and traveling. Richard loved the outdoors especially hunting and working with field trial dogs and was proud to own a national champion German Shorthair pointer. Richard was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Leo and Eugene and son-in-law Ed Jasperse. He is survived by his wife Dorothy of the home; daughters: Michele (Neil) Campbell, Centerville, Kansas, Stephanie (David) Elmer, Spring Hill, Kansas, Becky Elkind, Gaston, Oregon and Lisa Jasperse, Gardner, Kansas; sister Marie Mariano, Pittsburg, Kansas; brother Dale (Edna) Mealman, Wichita, Kansas; 10 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
