Opal K French Obituary

Opal K. “JoJo” French, age 84, of Dreyfus Road, passed away Tuesday, April 11, 2017 at the Hospice Compassionate Care Center in Richmond. Opal was born in Madison County to the late Stant and Zelda Webb Powell. She retired from Dresser Industries and was a charter member of Church on the Rock. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Floyd French, one brother Otis Powell, one grandson Sean Powell and one great grandson Levi Reed. She is survived by her loving children Lester (Sandra) Powell, David Powell, and Carla (Glen) Reed; one sister, Marie Thomas; 11 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. She is also survived by her many “adopted” grandchildren. Funeral services will be 1pm Friday, April 14, 2017 at Church on the Rock with Rev. Mark Sarver and Rev. Jerry Castle officiating. Burial will follow in the Madison County Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Thursday evening from 6-9 pm at the church. Active pallbearers will be Jeremy Powell, Brian Reed, Mike Parker, Mike Robertson, Chris King, and Les Coleman. Honorary bearers will be Trenton Combs and Carl Vincent French. Special thanks and love to her caregivers Carlee King, Georgia Stump, Trenton Combs, and Ernestine Blankenship. Thanks to the volunteers that came to sit with her.
