Memorial graveside services for Eddie Cribbs, 88, of Athens, are scheduled for 10 a.m., Saturday, November 23, 2019 at Oaklawn Memorial Park with military honors. Mr. Cribbs passed away November 17, 2019 in Tyler. Eddie Alleson Cribbs was born May 15, 1931 in Fort Meade, Florida, the son of Lester Henry Cribbs and Sarah Beatrice (Chambers) Cribbs. He married Doris Sue Rushing on August 4, 1960 in Key West, Florida. Eddie was a career military veteran who served in the United States Navy for 20 years. He will be missed by all those he knew and loved. He is preceded in death by his parents and his sister and brother-in-law Marie Cox and Earl. He is survived by his loving wife Doris Sue Cribbs of Athens; two children, Ricky Alleson Cribbs and wife Sally of Ovilla, Sandra Kay Burch and husband Russell of Athens; sister Hazel Greer and husband Dolph of Fort Meade, Florida; four grandchildren, Stephen Alleson Cribbs and wife India of Cedar Hill, Christopher Garrett Hope and wife Briana of Athens, Justin Dan Hope and wife Madison of Round Rock, Tanner Wade Burch and wife Samantha of Flint; one great grandchild, Christopher Cullen Hope and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held from 6-8:00 p.m. on Friday, November 22, 2019 at the Hannigan Smith Funeral Home. Arrangements were entrusted to the Hannigan Smith Funeral Home family.
