Obituary

John (Jack) Douglas Stone. Died peacefully in his sleep at Amica Newmarket on Tuesday July 3rd, 2018. Will be sadly missed by daughters Carol and Elizabeth, brother Paul and sister-in-law Muriel, sons-in-law John and Rubic, and his four grandchildren Andrew, Daniel, Derek and Simon, along with Andrew’s wife Sheena and Derek’s wife Nati, as well as his nieces Colleen, Linda, and Wendy, and his nephew Gordon. Predeceased by wife Shirley.

Jack had an immense love for Shirley, family, and for his many friends, and was well loved in return. His genuine warmth and grace attracted people to him wherever he was. He had a great appreciation for the wilderness and was educated as a forester, after he served in the Airforce during World War II. After working in the far north in forestry, he returned to the Toronto area and worked in fire suppression. Late in his career he started his own successful business in fire planning, and after his retirement he became an investor, where he did amazingly well due to his exhaustive research. For many years he was active in Barber Shop singing and was a talented musician.

He professed to be a Christian and loved to attend his church and read and study the Bible.

The family would like to thank his cousins Dianne, Gail and Sharon and the community at Amica Newmarket and Brenda Thurston, in particular, for their care and affection for Jack during the final years of his life.

He will not be forgotten.
