William H. Stratton

William H. Stratton, age 80, a resident at Bennington Health and Rehabilitation Center died on Tuesday, August 21, 2018 following a brief illness. He was born in Alaska on February 19, 1938 and was the son of the late Gilbert and Anna Stratton, Sr. He is predeceased by his life companion Sheila Cosato. He served in the National Guard for eight years. William worked as a carpenter for many years in the area. He enjoyed fishing and hunting. He was a member of the Moose Lodge and the VFW. He is survived by one daughter Christine (Jeff) Rogers of Bennington, his grandchildren: Jeremy Sanderson, Tyler Rogers, Savannah Rogers, Megan Rogers, Ashley Blockburger and Steven Rogers, as well as four great grandchildren; Jayce Sanderson, Jordan Sanderson, Jaxon Sanderson, and Mackenzie Sanderson. William is also survived by five step-children: Debbie Johnson (Peter Lemieux), Mary Johnson, Lillian Johnson, Brenda (Daniel) McDermott, and Angel Johnson and numerous step grandchildren. He also leaves close long time friends, P.J. and Colleen Sausville. Besides his parents he is predeceased by one brother, Gilbert Stratton, Jr. Graveside services will be held on Saturday, August 25, 2018 at the White Chapel Cemetery in Bennington at 1PM. There are no calling hours scheduled. Contributions may be made to the American Red Cross. The Mahar and Son Funeral Home in Bennington is assisting the family at this time.
