Obituary for Barbara T Sheehan

BEVERLY - Barbara T. (Tannebring) Sheehan, 96, beloved wife of the late Andrew J. Sheehan, Sr., with whom she was married to for 74 years, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 3rd at Ledgewood Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center in Beverly, surrounded by her family.

Born in Beverly on December 8, 1919 to the late William Charles, Sr. and Adeline (Derbyshire) Tannebring, she was a life long resident. Barbara graduated from Beverly High School, class of 1937, she attended a year at Oak Grove Finishing School in Vassalboro, Maine and attended Stoneliegh College in Rye, NH. She married her husband Andrew in 1942, while he was stationed overseas during WWII, Barbara worked in the design department at the United Shoe Machinery Corporation in Beverly. Upon Andrew’s return, Barbara dedicated her life to her family and raising her two children. She was an active member at the Second Congregational Church in Beverly and a member of the Beverly Rotarian Club. Barbara enjoyed boating, art and painting, music and especially playing the organ. Her family and grandchildren brought her the most joy and she will truly be missed.

She is survived by two children: Andrew J. Sheehan, Jr. and his wife Roberta of Beverly and Kathryn M. Smith and her late husband G. Timothy Smith of Hamilton; three grandchildren: Kimberly Sheehan of Beverly, Kristin Phipps and her husband Andrew of Hamilton and Kerri Koulouris and her husband William of Danvers; along with many nieces, nephews and extended family. She is predeceased by her son Robert P. Sheehan.

A Graveside Service will be held at the North Beverly Cemetery, on Friday at 11:00 A.M. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting hours will be at the Campbell Funeral Home, 525 Cabot Street, Beverly on Thursday from 4 to 7P.M. Memorial donations may be made in Barbara’s Memory to the Perkins Library, 175 N.
