It is with tremendous sadness that we announce the passing of Dale Morris Kenny, age 86, of Battle Creek, MI, who passed away on Friday, July 10, 2020 at Laurels of Bedford in Battle Creek, MI where he had been a resident since March of 2017. He was born January 29, 1934 in Detroit, MI the son of Harry Bruce Kenny and Myrtle (Reynolds) Kenny. He was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1957 and served in Germany until his honorable discharge in 1959. Dale graduated from Albion College with a degree in Business. He worked in sales in Michigan and New York, and was a secondary substitute teacher with the Battle Creek Schools. Dale also was a substance abuse counselor at Veterans Administration Hospital for nearly ten years. He retired in 1996. Dale was married to Jean Ann Wagner from 1956 to 1973 in Detroit, MI. Together they had three children; Brian Douglas Kenny (Lisa) of Livonia, MI; Anne Elizabeth Krueger (Bob) of Fenton, MI; Eileen Catherine Ruhlig (Mark) of Linden, MI; six grandchildren: Matthew Kenny; Jeffrey Kenny; Christopher Krueger; Robert K. Krueger (Marissa), Elizabeth McNamara (Ryan); and Patrick Ruhlig; three great-grandchildren: Lyla, Sawyer, and Jordy McNamara. He is survived by his dear longtime companion of 44 years Joyce Laird of Mason, MI, his brother: Kenneth Lynn Kenny of Jackson, MI, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters Shirley Toth and Mavis Kenny; two brothers: Gary Kenny and Edward Kenny. Dale had a love of the outdoors and enjoyed golf, hunting, and fishing. He was an avid baseball player in college. He also played baseball while stationed in Germany when serving for the U.S. Army. A small private graveside service with Military honors will be held on Friday, July 31, 2020 at 10:30 a.m. at the Great Lakes National Cemetery, 4200 Belford Road, Holly Michigan. Memorial tributes may be made to: Veterans Helping Veterans, 354 North 27th Street, Springfield, MI 49037.
