Donald Robinson

Age 78, loving husband, father, and grandfather passed away on November 1, 2008. He was born on March 12, 1930 in Valparaiso, Indiana the son of Harold and Eva (Slagle) Robinson. Don was a Veteran of the Korean War serving in the United States Navy and was a member of the Portland VFW Post #4090. He retired as a Development Officer with the Michigan Historical Center. He was a member of the Portland United Methodist Church, a Past President of the Oaks Recreational League in Okemos, and an Officer of the Okemos Boosters Club. He served on the Okemos School Board from 1970-1974, was a Past President of the Lansing Volunteers of America, the Portland Area Historical Society, the Goshen, Indiana Historical Society, and Past Secretary of the Portland Civic Club. He was also a volunteer at the Ionia County Memorial Hospital. He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Jon Robinson. Surviving are his wife of 22 years, Janet Robinson of Portland; sons, Andy (Lisa) Robinson of Libertyville, Illinois and Zachary Robinson of Portland; 3 grandchildren, Dylan, Chelsea, and Connor Robinson; sister, Dorothy Bowman. Per Don's request there will be no services. For those desiring, memorial contributions may be made to the Portland United Methodist Church or to the Ionia County Animal Shelter in memory of Mr. Donald H. Robinson.
