Germaine Thelen

Age 85, beloved mother, sister, aunt, grandmother and great grandmother, passed away on Sunday January 1, 2012 surrounded by her family. She was born on January 2, 1926 in Westphalia, MI the daughter of Alfred B. and Aurelia (Schoenith) Snitgen. Germaine was a member of the Christian Mothers at St. Mary's Church in Westphalia. She enjoyed playing cards and going to the casino. She married Harold P. Thelen on May 29, 1945 and he preceded her in death in 1998. They were married 53 years. Also preceding her in death were 2 brothers, 1 sister, as well as 1 grandchild, Kristen. Surviving are 3 sons, Dale (Barbara) Thelen of Westphalia, Alan (Carol) Thelen of Barryton, and Glenn (Sandy) Thelen of Westphalia; daughter, Doreen (Richard) Bierwagen of St. Peters, MO; 8 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; brother, Gene (Donna) Snitgen of Westphalia; sister, Rosemary Huhn of Eagle. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday January 4, 2012 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Westphalia, with the Rev. James Conlon, Pastor presiding. Rite of Committal will follow at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery, Westphalia. The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. Monday, and 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at the St. Mary's Funeral Chapel, Westphalia. Rosaries will be prayed at 8 p.m. Monday and 3 p.m. Tuesday, and a Scriptural Wake Service will be held at 8 p.m. Tuesday. Arrangements are entrusted to Lehman Funeral Homes, Portland.
