Loyola Smith

Age 93, the Lord reached out his hand and took Loyola home with him on Thursday, December 30, 2004. Mrs. Smith was born on December 2, 1911 in Beal City, MI the daughter of Joseph and Aurila (Straus) Elias, and had dedicated her life to caring for others. Loyola was preceded in death by her husband, Vincent; son, Joseph; and 2 infant daughters. She will be greatly missed by her children, Agatha (Bill) Nurenberg of Lake Odessa, Ron Smith of Lewiston, Ed (Linda) Smith of Fowler, Chris, Mike and Hubert Smith, and Ann Schrauben, all of Westphalia, and Bob (Bev) Smith of Leslie; she also leaves behind 37 grandchildren and 44 great grandchildren; two sisters; two brothers. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by the Rev. Cecilio Reyna, Pastor at 10:30 a.m. Monday, January 3, 2005 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Westphalia. Rite of Committal will follow at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the St. Mary’s Funeral Chapel, Westphalia, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Rosaries will be prayed at 3 and 8 p.m. Saturday, and 3 p.m. Sunday. A Scriptural Wake Service will be held at 8 p.m. Sunday. Arrangements are entrusted to the Schrauben-Lehman Funeral Home, Portland.
