Steven J. Hengesbach Westphalia, Michigan Steven J. Hengesbach, 51, of Westphalia died unexpectedly at home on Saturday, January 3, 2015. He was born in Lansing, MI on May 16, 1963 to the late Albin & Ruth (Smith) Hengesbach. He was part owner in Albin Hengesbach Carpentry and Custom Cabinets and A & H Homes for over 34 years. He was a member of Knights of Columbus; for 28 years he helped host their annual Mother's Day Barbecue. He was a member of the Catholic Order of Foresters. He excelled in sports and had played on several softball and basketball leagues. He was an avid golfer. He will be remembered for his quick-wittedness and sense of humor. He had the gift to always find the humor in life. He was predeceased by his father, Albin, sister, Sharon, Grandparents Tony & Marcella Hengesbach and Julius & Julia Smith, special Uncle Jim Hengesbach and several aunts and uncles, cousins. Steve is survived by his mother, Ruth Ann Hengesbach, brothers John Hengesbach, Brian Hengesbach of Westphalia, Glenn Hengesbach of Dewitt, sister, Carolyn (Brent) Henry, nieces, Abby Henry, Kaitlyn McQueary, Layne Hengesbach, godson & nephew William McQueary, nephews Matt (Samantha) Henry and Nick Henry, 2 great nieces, Parker Moser and Marley Henry several uncles and aunts, cousins and friends. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m., on Thursday, January 8, 2015 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Westphalia, with Rev. Eric Weber presiding. Rite of Committal will follow at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery, Westphalia. The family will receive friends from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday, January 6, 2015, and 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday January 7, 2015, at the St. Mary's Funeral Chapel, 210 N. Westphalia Street, Westphalia. Rosaries will be prayed at 3 and 8 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral chapel. Arrangements are entrusted to Lehman Funeral Homes, Portland.
