Charles Suiter

Charles Gerald Suiter, age 90, of Lamar, passed away Tuesday March 28th at Truman Healthcare in Lamar. Gerald was born to Charley Jacob and Clara Edna (Dickson) Suiter, August 30, 1926 at home in rural Barton County. On Nov 1 of 1945 he enlisted in the Army Air Corps and served in Germany during WWII. After the war he returned to Barton County and worked in various occupations including carpentry and farming. He worked at the soil conservation office, and at Lawnboy, as well as on his farm. On April 8, 1951, he married Dillia Louise Wilhelm at the Oakton Methodist Church. It wasn’t Long before Gerald felt and understood the call be a minister of the Gospel. He Served the Bethel Church for many years as a bi-vocational minister. Later on they sold their farm and went into full time ministry. He served several churches until he retired from full time ministry. He was involved in oil exploration and soil sampling in the oil fields in Oklahoma and he also worked for Associated Milk Producers before he retired. Gerald is survived by his wife Louise, a daughter Lois Crockett of Joplin; two sons, Dennis Suiter and wife Sherry of Lamar and Dale Suiter and his wife Lea Ann of Broken Arrow, OK, and one brother, Ray Suiter of Kansas City. Also surviving are 5 grandchildren; Jason, Jeffrey and Jeanna Crockett, De Ann Fitzanko and Alexandrea Ogren; and 3 great grandchildren, Jenna, Jarrett and Josie Crockett.
