Henry L. Whalen Obituary

Henry L. Whalen, 85, of 9 Peter Road, Merrimack, NH died on Saturday night, May 21, 2005 at the Baystate Medical Center in Springfield, Massachusetts. He was born in Boston, Massachusetts on October 9, 1919, son of the Harry P. and Margaret (Conlin) Whalen. He had been a longtime resident of Merrimack. He was the widower of Ruth (Dorset) Whalen who died on April 11, 1995. Mr. Whalen served in the United States Army spanning a thirty years He was discharged with the rank of First Sergeant. He served during World War II, The Korea Conflict and two tours during the Vietnam. Era. He received numerous medals and awards for his achievments. He also worked for United States Postal Service for many years following his retirement from the military. He was a member of the Ancient Order of Hibernians, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post # 483 in Nashua, and the Society of the First Division. Mr. Whalen graduated from Boston Latin High School. He was a communicant of St. Patrick Parish in Nashua. He was predeceased by a sister, Margaret Linn. Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Carol Whalen of Belchertown, MA; three grandchildren, Christopher, Jeromie, and Michaela Whalen all of Belchertown, MA; several nieces and nephews.

Interment prayers and burial will follow in Fort Devens Cemetery, Ayer, MA.

Visiting Hours will be held at Davis Funeral Home, One Lock St, Nashua on Tuesday evening (today) from 4-8 P.M.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Patrick Parish, 29 Spring Street, Nashua on Wednesday morning at Ten o’clock.
