George Samuelsen, Sr. Obituary

Samuelsen, George, Sr., 77, of Mays Landing, passed away on May 10, 2008 surrounded by his loving family. Born and raised in Egg Harbor City, he has been a resident of Mays Landing for the past 48 years. He worked at Petrilli Clothing Factory as a presser, a lineman and tree trimmer for Local 211, and retired from IBEW Local 351 after 30 years of service. In his younger years, he played softball at the Franny Kern Field in Egg Harbor City, football for the VFW team in Egg Harbor City, and also enjoyed bowling. George was an avid pool player at the Oaks of Weymouth. He was a member of American Legion Post 254 in Mays Landing. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Rita (nee: Wiedemer); three sons: Gene and his wife Ruth, Tony and his wife Lucy, and George; seven grandchildren: Jenn, Erica, Dana Ray, Angela, Kayla, Breanna, and Zachary; sister Mary Guenther, stepsister Nancy Gilbert, stepbrother Russell Gilbert, aunt Florence (Dolly) Colucci, aunt Isabel Barbetto, brother-in-law & sister-in-law Charles & Millie Wiedemer, sister-in-law and brother-in-law Joan & Howard McGlauflin; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews who will miss him dearly. Services will be held on Sunday, 1 PM, at the Boakes Funeral Home, 6050 Main St., Mays Landing, where a viewing will be held from 11 AM until the time of the service. Burial will be in the Atlantic Co. Veterans Cemetery in Estell Manor. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the St. Louise Regional Hospital, c/o I.C.U. nurses and doctors, 9400 No Name Uno Drive, Gilroy, CA 95020.
