Josephine Lois Stapleton Obituary

Stapleton, Josephine Lois (Kraus-Pansa) of Mays Landing, affectionately known as "The Jug Lady" passed away on December 4, 2015.


Born to William and Josephine Kraus on September 18, 1933. She is preceded by husband of 24 years Richard L. Stapleton, sisters Frances Bailey, Dorothy Sauerwald, Florence Farmer, brother William Edward Kraus, son -in-law Gerald P. Hamilton.


Surviving her are brother Fred Kraus (Mary), of North Carolina, sister Helen Vitzthum of California. Daughters JoAnn Cincotti (Joe) of Mays Landing, Gretta Bohren (Richard) of Richland, Sons Michael L. Panza, Louis J. Pansa Jr. (Eva) both of Mays Landing. Also surviving is Louis J. Pansa Sr., grandchildren Josey Bozzo (Michael) of Lynchburg, VA, John Hamilton of Mays Landing, Michael, Dan Pansa both of Mays Landing, Stephanie Gordan (Steve) of Buena, Christopher Bohren (Nicole) of Philia. Pa., DJ Bohren of Richland, Alexis McCarthy (Michael) of Buena. Great-Grandchildren Morgan & Michael Bozzo of Lynchburg, Va.,Taylor Hamilton of Buena, Hallie Pansa of Galloway, Matthew & Olivia Kirk of Buena, Christian Bohren of Philia. Pa. Many neices, nephews and extended family.


She was a school bus driver for many years with Greater Egg Harbor Regional School District, First Student Transportation and Integrity Transportation


She loved making her designs with her jugs which have been featured in Life Magazine, The Weird of New Jersey and many newspaper articles over the years. It made her happy to have people stop by and see them on her lawn. And that it made others as happy to remember the landmark on Rt. 40. Radio stations often did remotes from her lawn to feature the famous flag on holidays such Memorial Day, 4th of July and especially Flag Day.


Donations may be made in her name to Hammonton Center, 43 White Horse Pike, Hammonton, NJ 08037.


Friends may call Thursday evening, December 10th from 6:00pm till 8:00pm at Boakes Funeral Home, 6050 Main Street, Mays Landing, NJ. Burial will be private.
