Sylvia M. Rieg, of Brewster, NY, died peacefully on Wednesday January 2, 2019 at Village Crest in New Milford, CT. She was 78 years old.
Born on February 29, 1940 in New York City, NY, daughter of the late Vincent and Monica (Vasquez) Martinez. She graduated from the NYC schools.
On September 27, 1969 she married the love of her life William J. Rieg in the Bronx. Together they moved to Brewster, NY in 1972.
Mrs. Rieg worked for NY Telephone in the drafting department for many years before retiring. She was not only a member but a past president of the Brewster Volunteer Fire Department Ladies auxiliary and a member of the Brewster Lions Club. She enjoyed trivia books and attending craft shows. Sylvia was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Brewster.
Sylvia is not only survived by her loving husband but also her children; Jacqueline Rieg-Heiges and her husband Dave of Port St. Lucie, FL and Jonathan Rieg of Brewster, NY, her grandchildren; Olivia and Corey and her sister Nancy Mickulas and her husband Phil of Hempstead, Long Island.
A funeral service will be held on Friday January 4th, 2019 at 6pm at Beecher Funeral Home, 1 Putnam Avenue, Brewster, NY. A private cremation will follow.
