Robert Kiefer Manchester, New Jersey Obituary

Robert Kiefer

Suddenly on June 7th, 2017, retired Captain Robert W. Kiefer, surrounded by all of his family and dear friends, Dave and Terry Schoner, peacefully passed. Bob was a positive person and always believed in many people, more than they sometimes believed in themselves. The most important thing to Bob was his family. He desired their happiness and well-being. He believed that they could accomplish and achieve all of their dreams and aspirations and he prided himself on always being there for them, no matter what it was they needed. Bob was a man that truly loved his job at the Manchester Township Police Department. He went to work every day with a smile on his face and his ever-present motto, "Leave a place or people better than you found them ". Bob spent over 20 years volunteering at the Manchester Little League. The thrill of coaching all three grandchildren Matthew, Cody and Mackenzie put a smile on his face and brought pure joy to his heart. Bob always felt his biggest accomplishment in life was starting a group home, Trinity Manor, where his son, Bobby was able to live independently and lead a happy and productive life. Bobby's death in 2015 deeply affected Bob. He felt the loss of his shadow. Bob and his wife Pat, were high school sweethearts from Belleville, New Jersey and had two loving children. Patte, married to retired Lieutenant Fred Bakker and Bobby. His three grandchildren Matthew Bakker, now married to Kim Osienski, Cody Bakker and Mackenzie Bakker kept him young and energized enjoying life. He will be missed by the many people whose lives he touched. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Trinity Manor Ocean ARC, 815 Cedar Bridge Avenue, Lakewood, New Jersey 08701. A memorial service honoring Bob and celebrating his life will be held later with a date to be announced.
