Mary Haase

Mary L. Haase, 81, of St. Joseph, passed away Saturday, August 7, 2010 at The Willows in St. Joseph. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, August 10, 2010 at Zion Evangelical United Church of Christ, 3001 Veronica Dr., St. Joseph with Rev. Dan Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery in St. Joseph. Friends may call from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Monday, August 9, 2010 at Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph. Mary was born October 4, 1928 in Lacrosse, IN to Benjamin & Eva (Ballard) Brittin. On October 14, 1950, she married Arthur Haase in St. Joseph. Mary worked for Whirlpool Corporation for many years in the collections department. Mary also helped her husband run and operate there family fruit & vegetable farm. At the age of 56 Mary went back to college and graduated Co-Valedictorian in word processing. Mary also taught Sunday school for 19 years and was the President of the Ladies Fellowship at Zion Church. Mary was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and sister. In her spare time she enjoyed traveling, making quilts and spending time with her grandchildren. Mary was a strong and spiritual person taking anything bad and always making it good. Mary is survived by her daughter Cynthia (Phil) Langer of St. Joseph; three sons-Arthur R. (Keiren) Haase, Jr. of Paramount, CA, Timothy (Kathleen) Haase of Dickinson, TX, Terry (Virginia) Haase of Mattawan; six grandchildren-Laura Haase, Victor (Sharon) Brown, John (Heidi) Brown, P.G. (Connie) Langer, Alexandra Haase, & Nick Haase; two great-grandchildren Cole Ingle & Lexie Langer; very special sister Susie Lutzen of Niles, MI. Mary was preceded in death by her parents, husband Arthur Haase, son Carl Haase and three brothers Don, Jack and Clarence Brittin.
