Denny Landreth Obituary

Pisgah Forest – Denny Landreth, 69, passed away on Sunday, August 21, 2011 at the Elizabeth House, Flat Rock, NC. A native of Transylvania County, he was the son of the late D. C. Landreth and Margaret Emma Cox Landreth. Denny was a 1961 graduate of Brevard High School and was a member of the Brevard High School 1960 state championship football team. He was named a High School All-American football player on offense and defense and he received a football scholarship from the University of Tennessee. Denny coached Brevard Youth Football, Little League Baseball, and was an avid softball player notably with Brevard Electric, Charlie’s Tire and Byrd’s teams. He was retired from E. I. DuPont and was a former member of the Pisgah Forest Jaycees and Brevard Blue Devil Club. He was an avid outdoorsman and loved NASCAR Racing. He grew up attending Enon Baptist Church. Denny was a loving husband, father and “Papa”. Surviving are his loving wife of 48 years, Jeanne Peterson Landreth; daughter, Beth Landreth of Pisgah Forest; son, Patrick Landreth and wife Beth of Pisgah Forest; sister, Bobi Cloer and husband Nat of Seneca, SC; brother, Larry Landreth and wife Joann of Bluffton, SC; grandchildren, Kayden and Ali Landreth, and Logan, Ansley, and Taylor Sales; great-grandson, Alex Landreth; step-mother, Elease Wilson Landreth of Etowah. The memorial service will be at 11:00 am Saturday, August 27, 2011 at Brevard Community Church, Morris Road, Brevard, NC with the Rev. Larry Dean Madden officiating. The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 pm Friday at Moody-Connolly Funeral Home. At other times, the family will be at the home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Denny Landreth Athletic Scholarship Fund, United Community Bank, 10 Park Place East, Brevard, NC 28712.
