Charles Robbins

Charles Madison Robbins, age 88, of Forest City, died October 2 at White Oak Manor. A native of Rutherford County, he was the son of the late Lemuel Madison and Irene Miller Robbins. He retired from the Human Resources Department at Stonecutter Mills. Mr. Robbins was a veteran of the US Air Force, serving in Guam in WWII. He was a member of Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church, but had fond memories of growing up in Sulphur Springs Baptist Church. Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 64 years, Mildred Harrill Robbins of the home; daughter Cherry Garmon and husband Russ of Winston Salem; sister Bobbi Yelton Scruggs of Forest City; two brothers, Bill Robbins of Forest City and L.M. Robbins Jr of Ohio; two grandsons, Grant Madison Garmon of Asheville and Jacob Roland Garmon of Hendersonville. Graveside services will be held Wednesday, October 5 at 2 PM at Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church with Rev. Don Freshour and Rev. Ron Setzer officiating. The family will receive friends after the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
